- New hub is located at Twyford Services on the A46 / A44, strengthening public charging coverage on a previous ‘cold spot’ of the Strategic Road Network
- Latest generation payment technology including PIN-enabled terminals improves reliability for drivers using bank cards
- The new hub has a pricing totem, accepts contactless bank cards, and is compatible with every electric vehicle on the market today, with a 24/7 free helpline for customers
Drivers travelling through the Midlands and West of England can now benefit from one of the region’s largest ultra-rapid EV charging hubs, following the opening of a new flagship site at Twyford Services, Evesham, developed and operated by Osprey Charging.
The new hub provides 16 ultra-rapid chargers, making it one of the largest public charging locations on Osprey’s nationwide network. Positioned at Twyford Services just off the A46 and A44, the site strengthens charging coverage on a key route linking the Midlands, South West and Wales, an area identified by National Highways as a “cold spot” in rapid charging provision on the Strategic Road Network.
Unlike many charging installations, the Twyford hub has been built on land owned by Osprey, enabling the company to deliver a larger, purpose-built charging facility using its latest hardware and software platforms.
The hub uses Kempower ultra-rapid chargers capable of delivering up to 300kW, typically adding around 100 miles of range in 15-20 minutes depending on the vehicle. The site also features new Adyen payment terminals, allowing drivers to enter their PIN when required - improving reliability for customers when bank cards cannot complete contactless transactions.
The charge points accept contactless bank cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, RFID cards and all major fleet payment methods, with no app required, although Osprey do also have their own app available with a discounted rate and offers. Osprey’s in-house software platform, Osprey Iris, enables high levels of uptime and roaming compatibility across the UK charging ecosystem, while a 24/7 free helpline is available to support drivers.
The site has been designed as a high-capacity hub suitable for everyday drivers, businesses, fleets, and long-distance travel, with easy accessibility, clear bay layout and space for future expansion.
This installation represents a significant investment in public EV infrastructure and forms part of Osprey’s continued roll-out of high-power charging hubs in strategic locations across Great Britain.
“
Reliable, high-power charging hubs on major UK roads are essential for the transition to electric vehicles. Twyford Services is a flagship site for Osprey - a large, purpose-built hub in a location that needed better charging coverage. Because we own the land, we have been able to build a bigger, future-proofed site using our latest technology, giving drivers the confidence they need to travel long distances in an EV. This is exactly the kind of reliable, super-fast infrastructure the UK needs as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.
